 | About Me | |
I am a married 49 year old woman with 3 children and 1 granddaughter. I love the ocean, hiking, writing, time spent with family and friends, music, laughter, meditating, tarot, cooking, skiing, photography and all creative arts.
Aeclectic Tarot Forum has a fun thread called "Tarot Haiku" where you select a card from your tarot deck and create a haiku that represents the symbolism and/or meaning of that particular card.
Today I chose from the major arcana; The Empress, in celebration of Mother's Day and to wish all of those who nurture and care for others a wonderful day!

(Symbol of Mother Goddess)
Mother Goddess The three aspects of the goddess are: The Maiden (Greek Persephone), pure and a representation of new beginnings. The Mother (Greek Demeter), wellspring of life, giving and compassionate. The Crone (Greek Hecate) wise, knowing, a culmination of a lifetime of experience. These aspects may also represent the cycle of birth, life and death (and rebirth). Neo-Pagans hold this symbol as a representation of the goddess in all her forms (including that of mother).

Spellbound
The night is darkening round me, The wild winds coldly blow; But a tyrant spell has bound me And I cannot, cannot go. The giant trees are bending Their bare boughs weighed with snow. And the storm is fast descending, And yet I cannot go. Clouds beyond clouds above me, Wastes beyond wastes below; But nothing drear can move me; I will not, cannot go. ~ Emily Jane Bronte

I threw a few tunes together to celebrate Mother's Day. These songs remind me of being a Mom, a grandmother; they remind me of my children, my granddaughter, my own Mom, and well...Home. Below is a link to a beautiful website called "Light a Candle". The site was shared on one of my favorite places to visit on the web, Aeclectic Tarot Forum. Light a candle for anything you wish, pray for, or give thanks to. Your candle will burn for 48 hours with the others that have been lit. http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/about.cfm?l=eng

~Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto-

Before the ice is in the pools, Before the skaters go, Or any cheek at nightfall Is tarnished by the snow, Before the fields have finished, Before the Christmas tree, Wonder upon wonder Will arrive to me! What we touch the hems of On a summer's day; What is only walking Just a bridge away; That which sings so, speaks so, When there 's no one here,-- Will the frock I wept in Answer me to wear? ~Emily Dickinson

When I Am Among the Trees When I am among the trees, especially the willows and the honey locust, equally the beech, the oaks and the pines, they give off such hints of gladness, I would almost say that they save me, and daily. I am so distant from the hope of myself, in which I have goodness, and discernment, and never hurry through the world but walk slowly, and bow often. Around me the trees stir in their leaves and call out, "Stay awhile." The light flows from their branches. And they call again, "It's simple," they say, "and you too have come into the world to do this, to go easy, to be filled with light, and to shine." ~Author Mary Oliver
